A prestigious national law firm is seeking a Temporary Litigation Docketing Clerk to support its busy litigation team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is highly skilled in managing litigation deadlines, court filings, and docketing procedures. The position will last about 2-3 months and requires immediate availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze litigation documents (e.g., pleadings, motions, discovery) to identify relevant deadlines and ensure proper docketing in accordance with firm policies and court rules.
- Maintain and update the firm's litigation docketing database to track key deadlines, hearings, and filings.
- Perform accurate and timely calendaring of litigation events, including court appearances, filing deadlines, and statutes of limitations.
- Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and ad hoc reports on upcoming deadlines to attorneys and legal teams.
- File documents electronically in federal and state courts using platforms such as PACER, CM/ECF, and state-specific e-filing systems.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal secretaries to ensure compliance with procedural requirements and deadline management.
- Provide quality control and double-check filings and docket entries for accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as a resource for attorneys and staff regarding court rules, filing procedures, and litigation calendar inquiries.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in litigation docketing within a law firm setting.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules and procedures.
- Proficiency with docketing/calendaring software (e.g., Compulaw, MA3000, or similar systems).
- Experience with electronic court filing systems (PACER, CM/ECF, state court platforms).
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Compensation:
$25 - $35/hr. depending on experience
